Defect in the Dual Zone Digital Air Conditioning System (Citroën C4)

In this specific case (one side freezing and the other not), the problem It’s almost never the gas or the fuse.It’s not a mechanical failure, but rather a mechanical fault in the internal components of the dashboard.

• Focused Model: Citroën C4 (Hatch, Pallas, VTR and Lounge).
• The Real Problem (Gears): In the Dual Zone system, there are small motors (gear motors) that move “fins” or flaps to mix hot air with cold air. In the C4, the plastic gears of these fins often break or the teeth wear out. When this happens, the fin gets stuck in the “hot air” position, regardless of the temperature you select on the dashboard.
• Protection Location (General System): If the air conditioner stop working completely (If the compressor doesn’t engage or the internal fan doesn’t blow), then we should check the fuses:
  1. Air Compressor (Clutch): Located in BSM (under the hood), the fuse is the F11, with amperage of 15A.
  2. Internal Fan (Blow): Located in BSI (inside the cabin), the fuse is usually the F11 (in some models) or a Maxi-Fuse high amperage (40A).

Solution for the “Hot Side”: There is a repair kit Sold at dealerships or specialty stores, it consists of reinforced gears. Replacement requires disassembly of the sides of the center console (near the driver’s or passenger’s feet). If the fuse F11 (15A) If it’s burned, the air won’t even begin to cool down.
