In Brazil, due to the excess of dust and pollution, this filter tends to become saturated prematurely. The good news is that, in most Citroën models, you can replace it yourself at home, saving on labor costs!

1. When to replace it?

The general recommendation is for each 10,000 km or 1 yearBut if you frequently travel on dirt roads or in heavy city traffic, check every time. 6 months.

2. Where is the filter located?

• C3 (old model) and Aircross: It’s located under the outer grille, just below the windshield, on the passenger side (under the hood).
• C4 Cactus and New C3: It’s located inside the cabin, behind the glove compartment or in the center console (passenger side). In the C4 Cactus, there’s an easily accessible plastic door at the passenger’s feet.

3. General Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Access: Identify the plastic cover that protects the filter (usually secured by simple latches).
2. Withdrawal: Pull out the old filter. Notice the amount of dirt and leaves it holds—that’s what you would be breathing!
3. Hygiene (Extra Tip): Before installing the new filter, use an air conditioning sanitizing spray (like a “grenade”) to kill fungi and bacteria in the ducts.
4. Correct Position: The new filter has an arrow indicating the airflow. Make sure the arrow is pointing downwards or into the cabin, as indicated on the bracket.
5. Closing: Replace the lid and you’re done!

4. Which filter to choose?

There are two types on the market:

• Standard Filter (White): It traps dust and particles.
• Activated Carbon Filter (Gray): Besides removing dust, it neutralizes external odors (like truck fumes). It’s a bit more expensive, but it’s well worth it for the comfort.
